The Rhoom Studios – Studio 4 (air conditioned!)

In the studio

Studio 4 measures 5m x 4.5m – it’s our smaller room but it is by no means small. Bands with up to 5 members will be able to comfortably fit in the studio with their equipment. Is is also open 24/7 so you can choose to rehearse when you feel most creative. Studio 4 is also air conditioned!

How does it sound?

Studio 4 was originally built to double-up as a recording studio. It has a higher ceiling than the other three studios so there’s more room for the air to move. We’ve treated the walls with specialist acoustic diffusers to help control some of the high end reflections and have installed a powerful real-time feedback eliminator – meaning you can get the PA louder without having to deal with screeching feedback, which can be a common problem in rehearsal studios.

The timber beams of the ceiling have been left exposed in order to help diffuse some of the natural floor-to-ceiling reflections too. The sound is well balanced, de-cluttered and controlled so you’ll be able to hear everything and everyone clearly.

What’s in Studio 4?

Studio 4 comes equipped everything you’d expect from a music rehearsal room. We have a powerful floor-standing 3-way JBL PA system so that your vocals and keyboards have plenty of room in the mix. There’s two vocal microphones, XLR cables and three mic stands. A Mapex Meridian Birch drum kit in fusion sizes, with three cymbal stands, a hi-hat stand and a snare drum (you can hire cymbals for £1 per hour). Two 4×12 guitar cabs are in the Studio – Laney LV300 heads are available to hire at £2 per session so that you don’t need to bring your own amp. Finally, a powerful Ashdown MAG300 bass combo and a 4×10 Ashdown cab.

Note: We do occasionally switch equipment between the four Studios but the items listed above are typically found in Studio 4.

Do I need to book in advance?

Studio 4 is popular during mid-week evenings. We recommend trying to book a week in advance to guarantee the session time you want. Please check the Studio calendar before placing a booking request.

History of Studio 4

We built Studio 4 in the Autumn of 2009. Originally it was set up as a live room and control room for recording bands. A couple of very early TESSERACT recordings happened in this very room.

The local recording studio market was already very strong so after a couple of years, we decided to focus on what we do best: rehearsal rooms. The control room became storage space and Studio 4 carried on as a leading rehearsal studio.
